GRIMM FOREST: THE BEAR
—————
Well … it was a very challenging creature and it was good. Because when it’s hard it’s good : ) The thing about bears is that they are four-legged, but they also do a lot of things like two-legged creatures, and it’s really, really fun. I’m kidding, it’s not fun, but I think that’s the most important part of the job – doing something really difficult to make it seem easy at the end. So I had to make the rig look good in two different starting positions. One when the bear is standing up ready to attack or other things, and another when she is on the ground with her four legs. In addition, any animation must be a loop, regardless of the starting position. For example, when a bear needs to attack, she must already be stand, so the standing animation should be separate from the attack animation, since the bear does not need to standing up every time she needs to attack, so she can attack two or more times in a row.
I don’t remember how much time I worked on the bear, but it was a lot. I wanted to make her really clumsy and heavy, calm, but also angry and bad when she had to be.
